• Drake - a famous Jinn troubadour and spymaster, Drake returns to the land of his birth, the family he ran from, and the dragon he left behind.
• Krysta - warrior woman of the Jinn, spymaster for her clan, Krysta is the goto girl when trouble arises.
• Sir Mace - diligent and steadfast, Mace has little humor until Krysta enters his life. He admired Drake's carefree ways and natural talent when they were growing up, but he fears he doesn't stand a chance with Krysta if Drake wants her too.
• Jenet - a young female dragon the stunning color of dawn, she pines for Drake. She will have no other for her knight partner as long as he lives.
• Nellin - a young male dragon who is partner to the very serious Sir Mace. Nellin brings mischief to his knight and a sense of the ridiculous, but they are a mighty fighting team.
